My brother and I made an 18-day private tour of Scotland from September 6-23, 2026. I had researched Little Scottish Treasures along with over 12-15 other companies offering private tours of Scotland. LST was an easy choice to make once you start conversing with Peter MacGregor, the co-founder and our guide for 15 of the days. Peter knows his stuff and he has a passion for telling stories that intertwine his upbringing, history, family, anecdotes altogether. He is a treasure to have as a guide. To be completely honest, I did myself a disservice not having watched Braveheart or the Outlanders before coming to Scotland. My brother did see both and could relate to the stories much better. We really did a whirlwind tour and Peter held up great. Working, driving, talking, being passionate and changing location every night or two is asking a lot of anybody but Peter handled it well. Very well. No cracks or change in mood. We visited all eight cities of Scotland as well as the Orkney Islands and the Isle of Skye. You must be prepared for never ending weather changes in the same day. If the weather turned a bit rainy suddenly Peter magically had another plan be it visiting a distillery or taking a whiskey break. It is with utmost honor that I recommend Peter and his company Little Scottish Treasures as a top of the line private tour company. You will enjoy Scotland and Peter will make sure to leave you with lasting impressions (beyond that of him wearing a kilt almost daily lol) of Scotland and its rich history and culture. Bonus- if you’re a Spanish speaker or native LST has tours conducted in Spanish with Peter’s wife, Carolina. Thank you Peter for everything!

We had an absolutely amazing experience with Scottish Little Treasures during our 10-day family trip to Scotland! It was me, my husband, our 2-year-old son, and my dad, and we spent five days on a private tour traveling from Edinburgh through the Highlands to Inverness. Peter and Carolina picked us up at the Edinburgh airport and spent half a day showing us some wonderful spots outside the city. It was such a great introduction to Scotland, and they were both incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. We spent a few days exploring Edinburgh on our own before starting our private tour with Duncan, and we couldn't have asked for a better guide. Duncan was fantastic—knowledgeable, personable, flexible, and full of great recommendations along the way. He made the experience so much more than just sightseeing. He also happens to be an incredible photographer and captured some truly wonderful photos of our family and our trip! We're excited to see the rest of them over the coming weeks. Traveling with a 2-year-old and a multigenerational family can sometimes be a challenge, but Scottish Little Treasures made everything easy, enjoyable, and memorable. We saw some absolutely breathtaking parts of Scotland and made memories we'll be talking about for years to come. We loved our time in Scotland so much that our 2-year-old now wants to move to Inverness—and honestly, we're not far behind him! We absolutely recommend Scottish Little Treasures and will definitely book with them again when we return to explore even more of this beautiful country. Thank you for helping make our trip so unforgettable!

Wow! I usually have ALL the words, yet I can't seem to find the best ones to describe our time with Little Scottish Treasures. I'll have to start with absolutely amazing! We tossed a lot out there on our wish list, and I still haven't figured out how they got it all in there and then added SO much more! We had a big group for a small tour with 8 people to look after every day, and they did it wonderfully. Our group included two little ones at 15 months and 4 years old, a couple of teenagers, and the parents and grands! And somehow they kept us all engaged, happy, and fed. And always made sure we were frequently able to get out and give everyone, especially the kids, time to stretch and run around a little, usually in a place that included something fantastic. Everyone we worked with at Little Scottish Tours were awesome, as well as everyone that they connected us with for our outside adventures (YES, they did that, too!). We did walking tours, shark dives, potion making, and got tattoos, and they gave us information and helped in some way with all of that. Along with great advice on locations for lodging. We loved the stories they shared that weaved family and history and maybe a wild tale, now and then! This was one of the best parts of the whole adventure. We had fun with the wee bit of whisky that we tasted at just the right times each day, in all the beautiful places! And we definitely had a great time at the distilleries we got to stop at, some for tours, some for tastings...all a good time. The kids had so much fun seeing the coos, carrying swords and belt rifles, trying on a kilt, and exploring so many magnificent castles! Not to mention the sheep dog demonstration and feeding little lambs. There are many things along the way that we'll remember forever, especially at the end of one day, with this full on American group, they found a way to get us all out to a beautiful fairy pool to BARBECUE! Best dinner ever...with only a few midges. We probably asked silly questions, needed more guidance and help than most, and kept them out later than we should have, but they were always kind and helpful, and made us feel more than welcome in Scotland. This was a special celebration of a big birthday, and anniversary, and Little Scottish Treasures truly made it magical! We wish there were more stars to give, as we'd add them all! Definitely go for the adventure with them, you will be forever happy that you did! (Fair warning crew....we'll be back! And thank you!)

Our time with Dave from Little Scottish Treasures was wonderful! We could not have been more pleased with our experience. Dave went above and beyond to make sure we saw elements of specific family roots that we would not have otherwise seen on a regular tour. He was also kind to go at a pace that felt comfortable for us and was patient if we wanted to modify the itinerary. Dave’s warm reception, charisma, and knowledge of the area made for an adventure we’d definitely love to repeat in the future!

We did a six day bespoke tour and it was absolutely amazing! Our tour guide was Duncan, who picked us up in Aviemore, and drove us all around Scotland, finishing in Edinburgh. He was professional, friendly, and we always felt so safe and secure. Plus, his knowledge and passion of Scottish history and culture was off the charts. We would definitely recommend little Scottish treasures to anyone. We are a family of four, with two teenagers, and this was perfect for us.

Where do I even begin? Absolutely fantastic from start to finish! Our group wasn’t exactly the easiest to accommodate—two adults, a 2-year-old, a 4-year-old who may be on the autism spectrum, and a 57-year-old with mobility challenges who uses a cane after a stroke. Despite this, Peter made our time in Scotland not just manageable, but truly unforgettable. His kindness, patience, and genuine care stood out immediately. He went above and beyond to ensure everyone felt comfortable and included, adapting the pace and plans without ever making us feel like a burden. He was especially wonderful with our son—engaging, attentive, and incredibly thoughtful in how he interacted with him. It meant so much to see our child so happy, involved, and excited throughout the experience. Peter is also an exceptional storyteller. His deep knowledge of Scottish history, combined with his natural talent as an orator, brought every location to life. Both adults and children were completely captivated—we could have listened to him for hours. From fascinating historical insights to lesser-known tidbits and even pieces of his own family history, every moment felt rich and meaningful. In just two days, we experienced so much—from Edinburgh to the Highlands. We explored castles, watched weapon demonstrations and reenactments, met a knowledgeable forager, and took in breathtaking scenery filled with Highland cows, sheep, waterfalls, and the serene beauty of places like the Hermitage. Every stop felt thoughtfully chosen and tailored to our interests. Even with extra stops for nursing and mobility needs, we never felt rushed and still saw an incredible amount. The food recommendations were also outstanding—some of the best meals we had on our trip! One of my favorite memories was during our walk through the Hermitage, when our son proudly carried a trash picker, excitedly helping to keep the area clean. Peter encouraged his curiosity and enthusiasm so beautifully—it was a small moment, but one we’ll always cherish. Scotland itself is stunning, but Peter truly made the experience exceptional. If you’re considering booking a tour, don’t hesitate—he is worth every penny and more. We only scratched the surface and already can’t wait to return. Thank you, Peter, for such a memorable and meaningful experience. We’ll be treasuring these memories (and photos!) until we come back—and next time, we’ll be booking for even longer. Save a whisky for us!

Peter and Carolina are the best. They make it such a personal experience and we felt like we were visiting distant family. Peter’s story telling kept everyone entertained the whole time and we enjoyed the Scottish snacks along the way. They were so accommodating and friendly. When we go back we plan on getting in touch and seeing about another tour.

What an amazing team Peter and Carolina make! Always happy, always helpful. Little Scottish Treasures is a mouthful to say but you get what it promises. Peter has soooo many stories - you can't get enough of them. And his "little treasures" are such fun to find. They listen to you and are responsive to any changes or needs. We switched up our tour right in the middle of the day and they took it in stride. We got to walk on "The Old Course" at St. Andrews just because it was a Sunday and they listened to us. This is not your canned tour that stops at the same places every other tour goes to. They have purposely chosen locations for the sheer beauty and history of Scotland. They love Scotland and it shows. We made lifelong memories with them. By the way, we also used them for more mundane things such as airport and hotel transfers and guest transportation for our daughter's wedding. Not the fun stuff, but it was so nice that they were with us for our entire stay.

Peter and Carolina are incredible! Unlike other tour operators that balked at taking young children, they gamely signed on to take on a family with a 2-year-old and 5-year-old. They provided car seats for the kids, introduced us all to some delicious kid-friendly Scottish snacks, and somehow managed to simultaneously entertain both the adults and kids for an entire day. Even though my kids had their moments, Peter and Carolina handled them with patience, understanding, and humor. Peter is a master storyteller, and I absolutely loved that he personalized the tour with stories from his clan’s past. He made Scotland come alive for us, and we could not have asked for more. It was by far the best family tour we’ve ever done, and my only regret is that we booked them only for a day tour rather than a longer itinerary. If/when we ever return to Scotland, we will definitely book them again!
